What the Heck is a Bujumu?!

Posted by Sam Kearney on

Don't worry, you're not the only one who's asked this!

Are you familiar with the Boojum? I had only heard of the brewery, but the Boojum is an Appalachian folk legend. Picture a Sasquatch-esque character who helps itself to gem miners' hauls in the middle night.

So, I thought, what if one of those Boojums accidentally stumbled into some toxic waste, grew 300ft tall, and terrorized the city of Asheville, raiding the various hippie and head shops for all their quartz and crystals?

You know, that old trope.

Naturally, this reminded me of some crunchy granola version of the classic Japanese monster movies from the 50's and 60's. Once that image popped into my head (and a quick double check through Google translate), the mighty Bujumu was born!

This design supports MountainTrue and the great work they do protecting the mountains, waterways, and habitats across North Carolina. Thanks to them, there's no toxic waste pools just waiting for some poor creature to stumble into, mutate to unthinkable proportions, and wreak havoc on unsuspecting bystanders!

Or, you know, trees and stuff!

So what do you think, is Bujumu a true terror, or just really big and clumsy? Let me know in the comments or over on Instagram or Facebook!
